In the sea of darkness
There sprung a stream of joyousness
The little drops of sadness
Flowed away in pursuit of happiness.

Fate and all that madness
Spent in hope and goodness
Oh what a cry it was in shrillness

Life and the dream of brusqueness
Lived along with utter humbleness
But whatever lived in darkness

The child and its little tenderness
The mother and the interest of godliness
The care and the affection of dearness
Flowed away in pursuit of happiness.

Life, hope, belief and all the gladness
Spent in the sea of immeasurable vastness
Oh the sickness and all emptiness
Flowed away in pursuit of happiness.
